Home Wall Hanging

Welcome to the June Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month, I chose to make a HOME Wall Hanging. My inspiration actually came from Target. But I have seen some pins with this same idea.

HOME Wall Hanging

I originally saw this type of wall hanging one day when I was walking through Target. And of course my first thought was – “oh, I can make that”! So on another day when I was at JoAnn’s I saw these letters on the clearance aisle and snatched them up. The greenery bush came from Michael’s (with a 50% off coupon). I already had the straw wreath, gray ribbon and gray paint. This took no time at all to put together and cost me right around $10. I don’t know how much the one at Target was – I didn’t look at the price. But I have seen them on Etsy for $45-100!

**In the picture above, the word “home” is not mounted on the wreath. I just used an enlarged picture of the wreath as the background for my picture. Sorry if that is confusing!

Materials:

Wooden letters – H, M, E about 12 inches tall
Small Wreath Form (10-12″ straw, foam . . .)
Fake Greenery Bush – like this Boxwood Bush
Gray Paint
Ribbon – sheer gray
Hot glue gun
Paint brush

Directions:

Paint all the letters with the gray paint. I did not paint the back of the letters since I’m just hanging it on my walls and you won’t see that side anyway!

Pull the greenery bush into smaller pieces. Lay them on your wreath to see how you want them positioned. Using the hot glue gun, secure them in place around the wreath.

Make a bow with the ribbon. (I recently bought a BowDabra and it has made bow making so much easier! It basically holds the ribbon for you so your hands are free!) Then just glue the bow onto the wreath.

That’s it! I used some Command 3m strips to hang it on the wall. But I’ve also seen it attached to a wood background which was then hung on the wall.

That is very pretty! I too often think “I can make that” when I see homegoods in the stores. Pinned.

  5. It’s beautiful! I always think- I can make that and have many pictures on my phone of things I want to make. My kitchen is grey and white, this would be perfect for it. I think I have to make one now.

  6. Affordable and easy are the best home decor craft projects.

  10. Are the letters glued onto a piece of wood, then put on the Wreath? I couldn’t see any directions or materials for the base of the home letters.

    • Sorry for the confusion – the wreath is actually the letter “o” in the word home. I just used the wreath as the background image on my pinterest image. I probably should add another image to make it less confusing!

  11. I was the same as Kristie at first and thought you’d attached the wooden letters to a background which laid over the wreath!
I get it now, the letters are the same size as the wreath aren’t they?
Very pretty, and such a beautiful bow.

  12. Such an easy and lovely piece of home decor. It will look great wherever you place it

  13. I can’t count the times I said “oh, I can make that” and then never did. It’s great that you found the time and tackled the project asap. Love how it turned out!
