Currently September 2017
I’m linking up today with Anne of In Residence for her Currently September 2017 link up post. Come join the fun to see what everyone is currently up to!
Currently I am . . .
Celebrating . . .
the engagement of my daughter to her boyfriend of 9 years! He proposed to her on a trip they took to the Grand Canyon. She’s wanting a fall wedding next year with rose gold as her colors. Let the planning begin!
Watching . . .
the weather channel and the news. I live just north of Houston, Texas and #HurricaneHarvey hit us hard. I am blessed that no water got into my house or any of the houses in our subdivision. However after 4 straight days of heavy rain our area got just a little under 40 inches. Some areas got 60 inches! The rivers and creeks hit their highest levels on record and just about every road around us was flooded. So many people lost everything they had. Please pray for all those affected! If you are interested in helping, the Montgomery County Food Bank (who partners with the Houston Food Bank) is a great organization who could use donations. Every few months they provide food through their mobile program to the low income community where I teach.
Welcoming . . .
the signs of autumn approaching. Autumn is my favorite time of the year. Cooler weather, lower humidity, beautiful yellow and orange colors and pumpkin spice everything! Just this past week I’ve seen the pumpkin spice products appearing in my local grocery store.
Preparing . . .
my fall garden. I love to plant lettuce in the fall. If I plant seeds throughout September and October I can have fresh lettuce all the way through May. Although it gets cold at my house, it never gets cold enough to kill the lettuce.
Photographing . . .
the effects of the weather. I did not go out the worst two days of the storm so the only pictures I took are from Saturday when Hurricane Harvey first started and from Tuesday evening when the flood waters started to subside as well as the aftermath on Thursday (sorry they were taken out of my car window). I’ve included two pictures that were on social media – one is leaving my subdivision to the east and the other is leaving my subdivision to the west.

What are you currently up to?
How exciting for your daughter – what a great place for a proposal. And thanks for sharing your Harvey photos – here in Michigan we’ve been thinking about those affected and trying to figure out what we might be able to do to help!
Thanks Anne! I know you have to be careful about who you donate to as some organizations are a little unscrupulous!
Congrats to your daughter! Rose gold is a great color for a fall wedding.
I’m glad no water got into your house. My aunt and her family live in Texas and it receded enough to not flood her house either but they got a lot of water in the yard.

Thanks Lauren! Happy to hear your aunt didn’t get water either!
Living in the north, I can’t even imagine the devastation of a hurricane. I’m glad your house didn’t flood. Have fun planning your daughter’s wedding. I’ve done one and it really is a special time.
Thanks for stopping by Joanna!
Congratulations to your daughter, and her ring is gorgeous! Glad your house didn’t get flooded also! I live outside of Nashville, and we were very fortunate not to have experienced any flooding at our house in 2010 when there was a huge flood. It’s so scary to watch the water keep rising.

I think my daughter has been planning for about a year even though they weren’t engaged yet!
It seems we’ve been watching “hurricane news” for weeks. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected.

The hurricanes are just awful, I hope it gets warm and dries everything up for you before it all mildews outside etc. Such a sad situation, all the best through the recovery and cleanup.
I am busy getting ready for the busy blogging season and we had to turn the heat one as we have frost at night already. So not ready for it.
