Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C’mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! I’ve decided to join up with this group. After years of hoarding collecting craft and sewing supplies I figured it was about time to try to put them to good use.  So when my step-daughter told us she was pregnant I knew my yarn stash would come in handy. A crocheted newborn hat and slippers was my project of choice. I just didn’t know what color to make them until she had her gender reveal party a couple of weeks ago.

A baby girl – so glad I had pink yarn left over from a project I had made for my daughter when she was in high school! I also had some white yarn for the flower as well as little pink rosettes (which were probably from when my daughter was a baby!).
Crochet supplies
For the hat I used this pattern using a v-stitch from the website Lacy Crochet. She has a lot of pretty patterns so be sure to check out her site!

Then I made the flower from this pattern from the See Jenn Do website. Here are her very easy to follow directions:

1. Ch 27

2. Skip first 4 ch, sc in 5th ch from hook, (ch2, skip 1 ch, sc) accross.

3. Turn piece, (sc, ch1, 3dc, ch1, sc) in each ch2 space accross, and also in ch4 space at the end.

4. Finish off, leaving a long tail, and threading tail through a needle.

5. Form flower by holding short beginning tail and turning the petals around.

6. Using the long tail, sew petals in place, beginning with outer 2 layers of petals, and finishing with a few stitches to hold all layers together.

And finally the slippers were made from this pattern at the Loganberry Handmade website.

Crocheted Slippers 

I finished the project by using a little hot glue to attach the pink rosettes to the slippers as well as the center of the flower. I can’t wait to give these to my step-daughter for Christmas!

    I love this set. I think the lacy pattern paired perfectly with the Coordinates yarn. I had some in my stash for sooooo long, and ended up recently giving it away because I didn’t have much, and just hadn’t though of anything to use it with. You did great with this beautiful little set! And I am totally in love with the idea of using up what is in your stash! I have lots and lots of yarn in my stash that is dying to be crocheted with 😉 Will need to make it a New Years resolution.
    I will add though… I looked around for a spot to email you, and couldn’t find anything. Because most bloggers make their income off the number of views to their blog pages, by copying and pasting a pattern, not only does it go into copyright infringement, but it also limits traffic because readers no longer have to return to the main blog to view the pattern. I think Jenn would appreciate if you just linked to her Rosette, instead of copying and pasting it into this post.

    I love this little set. I found your ‘print’ button. Unfortunately it has printed 9 double sided sheets….and then an error occurred so it never printed the pattern! It’s printed all of the comments……! Please can you check out this problem? For some reason when I clicked print it never showed me how many pages it was going to print but just started printing immediately! Very odd.
