May Craft Destash – Shabby Chic Decor

I decided to make the shabby chic decor because the lady whose name I received in the 12th annual teacup exchange loves this type of decor in pinks and blues. I had everything in this supply list except the wooden letter and the shabby chic scrapbook paper. I bought the wooden letter at Hobby Lobby on sale for $1.99. I bought 2 sheets of paper on sale at Joann for $0.17 each. I do believe I stayed under the $10 allotted for these projects!
Shabby Chic Decor
Materials:
Clothespins
Small Wooden Box
Wooden Letter
Paint
Scrap paper in shabby chic design
Washi tape
Twine
Flowers
Mod Podge
Directions:
Paint the clothespins in your color of choice. I used a light blue. Also paint the outside of your wooden box. I chose to paint it light pink. Let the paint dry.The letter I bought was already painted a white color. If yours is not you might want to paint it as well. Then, turn the letter backwards and trace it on the back of your scrapbook paper.
Also cut strips of the scrapbook paper to cover the front of your clothespins.
Finally, cut a piece of scrapbook paper the height of your wooden box. The length will be the circumference of the box. I also cut out one of the flowers from the blue scrapbook paper to put on top of the lid.
Now comes the Mod Podge. Paint Mod Podge on the front of the clothespins, front of the letter and around the side and top of the box. Lay your scrapbook paper on each of those and smooth it down so it lays flat. Paint another layer of Mod Podge on top of the scrap book paper. Allow it to dry.
Use washi tape around the edge of the lid on your box.
Hot glue the small flowers to the front of the clothespins. Then put the clothespins on some twine to use as a photo holder or attach magnets to the back to hold photos on your fridge.
That’s it – your very own shabby chic decor!
