My Little Sunshine Bibs & Burp Cloths

Collaborating this month with a lovely group of Bloggers to bring you some new craft ideas. For the September Craft Destash we are challenged to create a project using only items currently found in our craft stash. We were to make something new with crafty supplies or re-make an item we’ve been holding on to for a while. For this challenge I decided to make these My Little Sunshine Bibs & Burp Cloths.
My Little Sunshine Bibs & Burp Cloths
I have a set of small white hand towels that were purchased years ago. I also have a few cloth diapers in my stash of supplies. So when I went to the quilt store and found this panel with really cute bibs I knew I needed to purchase it. Especially since it was on clearance for $4. It can still be purchased on Etsy at the link below. The towels were the perfect size for the backing on the bibs. I already had the snaps to complete them. I also had the flannel material to create the matching burp cloths. So all in all this project cost $4. Not bad for a set of baby shower gifts!
Materials:
My Little Sunshine Panel
3 white hand towels
3 prefolded cloth diapers
Snaps for closures
Fusible webbing
Thread to match
Directions:
Cut the bib pieces apart. Put a hand towel on the table. Place one of the bibs face down on top of the towel. Pin together. Then sew around the seam line leaving an opening to turn. Clip the curves. Turn right side out and press. Sew around the edge to help it lay flat. Add a snap for closing. Repeat with remaining 2 bibs.
To make the matching burp cloths I used the extra circles of animals that were on the panel. Cut them out then iron fusible web on the back. Fuse them onto the center of the burp cloth and sew around the circle using a decorative stitch. And to see how I made the burp cloths you can go to this post here.
